First Car Rally with the Visually Challenged Persons In Jaipur
we have always been taught not to put a blind faith on anyone.
Even though it’s right, but what if I say that the blind faith may prove thrilling, exciting, and entertaining?
Whether or not you believe, it’s true that the blind faith may be of great fun sometimes, at least in a car rally with those who are blind, oh, I would better call them “visually challenged”.
The city of pink, jaipur is all set to witness a unique of it’s type “raj car rally with visually challenged” on Sunday, the seventeenth of January.
A joint collaboration of various organizations working for and with the visually challenged and other disabled persons, the rally has geared up to hit the city’s road.
Different from any other rally that you might have seen, the car drivers will be lead by visually challenged persons and the drivers will have to put a faith on the visually challenged persons as they will be the only one who would be able to guide them about where and how to go.
Interestingly, the visually challenged persons will tell this by the help of a tulip in Braille (a special method for visually challenged persons to read and write), which will be given to them before the flag off.
The objective of organizing this rally is to showcase the ability of visually challenged to the world, as it has been observed that often visually challenged persons are underestimated besides their immense capabilities.
The Rally is being organised with the support of individuals, organizations engaged in making the life of persons with disability a life with dignity and respect where society accepts them as a human being considering their abilities. The technical support for the rally organization will be from the motor sports club senior members lead by Prof. Shekhar Verma and Mr. Sanjay Sankhla who have experience and zeal for organizing such events in past.
Rajasthan Netraheen Kalyan Sangh, Rajasthan Netraheen Viklang Sangh,Drishtiviklang Sangh,Umang, Sightsavers International and Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan and number of individuals are associated with the event.
This first ever rally of this kind in Jaipur will be part of the Jaipur Virasat International festival which is a prestigious annual event of pink city.
40 cars will be participating in the first rally of this kind on 17th January. Flag off ceremony will be at Ashok Club, Jaipur.
Lets join making this first event of Jaipur a grand success and make the City feel about the abilities of persons with disabilities

I was greatly privileged to have participated in the first Car Rally with the visually challenged. It was a rare experience. It was amazing how my visually challenged companion Shri Sitaram Kumawat gave me precise and detailed guidance to drive through the maze of city roads. It was entirely because of his accurate reading of the instructions that I could reach the destination without any mistake. The credit also goes to the person who wrote the instructions in Braille with such clarity. The Rally only confirmed my belief that the visually challenged were as competent as anyone else.
I must compliment the organisers who had thought of all the details. It was a great event perfectly organised. And all those who supported the event deserve praise and admiration.
I wish this event becomes an annual feature.
