and finally, it happened!

It born, planned, executed, and finally, it happened!
The first ever in jaipur, “raj car rally with visually challenged” has been successfully completed.
A dream that a few organizations and indivisuals have saw together, a plan that a team of dedicated people worked together, an event where all the people walked together, this whole day was a day of wonder in the brains of jaipur ights.
It all started from ashok club with flag off by prominent people like commissioner of disability, mr. khillimal jain, the renowned businessmen, mr. Rajeev arora, president of eyebank society of rajasthan, mr. ML Mehta, and lot others.
There were 43 cars which did run on the roads of city, right from the ashok club to hotel desert trail, passing all the busy roots of the city like hawa sadak, ajmeri gate, sodala, vashali nagar, malviy nagar, Gandhi nagar, MI road, badi chopar, chhoti chopar, chora rasta, johri bazaar, joravar singh gate, and lot more.
In fact, the attraction was visually challenged navigators who have guided their sighted drivers with the help of the root chart in their own language of communication called Braille.
The amazing part in the rally was that both the visually challenged and sighted participants were those who are prominent in their fields.
While a RAS officer was navigating a car, one of the cars had been driven by honorable turism minister of rajasthan mrs. Beena kak.
While drivers were doctors, army officers, businessmen, polititions, etc, navigators too were software engineers, managers, administrators, professors, poets, writers, musicians, ETC.
It shown to everyone around, that being blind does never hinder the path of success, it’s the sightlessness that’s the only difference.
Everyone including drivers as well as spectators have realized that the visually challenged persons have immense capabilities to do the things, it’s just that the method of doing may differ.
The whole idea was to get the people assorted with visually challenged persons and let them understand their capabilities, which definitely worked out.
The prizes were distributed to the winner in a function at desert traille by chief secretary of rajasthan, mr. shrinivasan and event sponsors.
It was great to organize the event in the city of pink, jaipur, and those who have participated have definetly grabbed a golden memory forever. stay tuned here for more on the event.

Sincerely,
The rally organizing team.

details of the rally

The first ever in jaipur “raj car rally with the visually challenged” is going to be held on Sunday, the 17th of January.
Since this is the first of it’s kind experience for the city, here are few details about the event for those who are interested to know.

Every time we help the blind cross the road, they put their 'faith' in us, but now, it is payback time and this rally is designed to ask us to put our ‘blind faith’ in their 'navigational skills' using a braille navigation chart.
The tulip chart (driving instructions chart) is given in Braille which a sighted person cannot read. So the visually challenged navigator reads out the instructions on the speed, directions, etc which guides the car thru the streets of jaipur to the finish. (something similar to World Rally Championship or WRC where navigators guide drivers, But WRC is considered an EXTREME SPEED event for SKILLED DRIVERS while the "raj car rally with visually challenged" is more a TIME_SPEED_DISTANCE rally.

Here is how the tulip chart reads... in brail... for e.g..

Speed change 0.00 to 3.50 Kms. Travel at 30 Kmph
0.00 Zero Odo at gate and turn left onto main road.
0.50 Traffic signal take left.
1.80 T junction take left
2.30 Turn right keeping Sangeeta Restaurant on your left.etc.

the key is that only those can success who put their trust on the skilled visually challenged person who is guiding the car.

A very interesting rally covers about 40 kms in pink city and helps several visually challenged people 'see' how we 'sighted' people react when we get lost or clueless as to where we are going.
In fact, the idea behind the whole event is more versatile as it showcases the abilities of visually challenged persons to the society and gives them a strong message to recognize visually challenged persons as a part of their community.

sincerely,
the rally organizing team.

First Car Rally with the Visually Challenged Persons In Jaipur

we have always been taught not to put a blind faith on anyone.
Even though it’s right, but what if I say that the blind faith may prove thrilling, exciting, and entertaining?
Whether or not you believe, it’s true that the blind faith may be of great fun sometimes, at least in a car rally with those who are blind, oh, I would better call them “visually challenged”.
The city of pink, jaipur is all set to witness a unique of it’s type “raj car rally with visually challenged” on Sunday, the seventeenth of January.
A joint collaboration of various organizations working for and with the visually challenged and other disabled persons, the rally has geared up to hit the city’s road.
Different from any other rally that you might have seen, the car drivers will be lead by visually challenged persons and the drivers will have to put a faith on the visually challenged persons as they will be the only one who would be able to guide them about where and how to go.
Interestingly, the visually challenged persons will tell this by the help of a tulip in Braille (a special method for visually challenged persons to read and write), which will be given to them before the flag off.
The objective of organizing this rally is to showcase the ability of visually challenged to the world, as it has been observed that often visually challenged persons are underestimated besides their immense capabilities.

The Rally is being organised with the support of individuals, organizations engaged in making the life of persons with disability a life with dignity and respect where society accepts them as a human being considering their abilities. The technical support for the rally organization will be from the motor sports club senior members lead by Prof. Shekhar Verma and Mr. Sanjay Sankhla who have experience and zeal for organizing such events in past.

Rajasthan Netraheen Kalyan Sangh, Rajasthan Netraheen Viklang Sangh,Drishtiviklang Sangh,Umang, Sightsavers International and Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan and number of individuals are associated with the event.
This first ever rally of this kind in Jaipur will be part of the Jaipur Virasat International festival which is a prestigious annual event of pink city.

40 cars will be participating in the first rally of this kind on 17th January. Flag off ceremony will be at Ashok Club, Jaipur.

Lets join making this first event of Jaipur a grand success and make the City feel about the abilities of persons with disabilities
